[Somewhere, sometime after the survivors have dispersed from the Courtyard... Connor will be stumbling across Hiro. Hi. Hello. What's up. Assuming he's in an eye contact mood, Connor will offer him a curt nod as a way of greeting.]
[Hiro looks up at Connor and offers a nod back because that's what one does with robots, apparently. Mini-Max is in his hands and he seems to be eyeing the east wing even as he stands on the lower level of the temple.]
I guess it could be worse. [A shrug.] We caught the right guy...that has to count, right?
[It is, indeed, what one does with robots. Connor eyes Mini-Max curiously, before returning his attention to Hiro.]
... In a way.
[He doesn't sound too sure about that, to be honest. Even if they did, miraculously, get the right guy... Well. It sure wasn't because of their awesome inductive and deductive reasoning.]
Would you say you're satisfied with tonight's outcome?
Someone's still dead, and now more people are gonna die, dude. I don't know if anybody could really call that satisfactory but...it was the right person. I think that's the really important part. I'm satisfied we figured that out even if it took us almost the whole trial.
Given that we were forced to conduct an investigation and within a span of nine hours... I agree. It's satisfactory that we were able to select the right culprit.
[Well. Kind of.]
... However, I don't think "getting better" will be enough in the future. Finding a murderer is easy. Correctly guessing who they've aligned themselves with is not.
Yeah...if the trials are going to keep being like this where people have to guess people's gods, that puts us at a huge disadvantage. It's worse because people can change who they're aligned to, too. You could tell someone you're aligned with, I don't know, Indulgence or Ambition or something and then secretly go back and switch without saying so. Nobody's ever gonna know.
Connor, hey. [Give him a moment to think that over.] We had a lot of conversations, dude...but I think I know which you mean. Checking everything out, right?
[Look. Listen. Sometimes.......... he just expects humans to automatically Know Things even though their squishy brains don't work that way. It's fine.]

You mean like the costume hall? That place is kind of a mess since things keep reappearing. The study's a good spot to keep a record, too. Have you looked at all of the rooms in the temple since we got here?
I do. Keeping a record for the rooms with self-replenishing supplies will be challenging... However, I have taken the time to explore all the rooms in the temple since our arrival. Have you?
I'm missing a couple. But it's just because I don't think they're really necessary? Like the hall of mirrors. I'm pretty sure we can cross that off of our list of places to check and count stuff each week.
I don't get it. [Somehow it's easier to express this to Connor than other people, but maybe it's because Hiro's used to monologuing at another robot.] How are we almost four weeks in and still only catching killers based on sheer luck? And in some cases, we might still be letting people get away with stuff. You know it's just going to be Rachel on Monday...that means Fortune's killer's getting away.
But the system is stacked against us. Investigations normally are carried out with ample time to consider the evidence. To host a trial at the same time we're meant to uncover the evidence — it makes things unnecessarily complicated. Not to mention, the majority only voted for Ambition because they knew Rachel's alignment beforehand. If we had found Fortune's killer... would we really have uncovered their god in time?
w1, post-trial.
Hiro, how are you?
[After that, uh, mess.]
